Alright cuties, September is here. A time where we slowly start to say goodbye to summer and begin to welcome the brisk kiss of Fall. Except that global warming is real, and it is going to be 110 degrees where I am today.
Never the less, as a forever East Coast girlie, the seasons they are changing, and no heatwave will make my brain forget that pumpkin bread is but a Trader Joe’s trip away.
Please enjoy the witchy breakdown!
Tarot Card of the Month: 10 of Wands
In this section I pull a tarot card on behalf of the collective that represents the energy for the month ahead. For September we have the 10 of Wands reversed.
The 10 of Swords is a card of bearing much responsibility and not knowing how to delegate and or say no. It is a card of the over-achiever who believes they have to put the world on their back… only to break their back and burn out. This September calls for reprioritizing our list of needs and wants. It calls for sharing the responsibilities as a community, and knowing that it is both okay to ask for help and to gently put down what we can no longer carry.
In a Tarot for Change, Therapist Jessica Dore, says the following of this card:
A lot of us have grown up in environments where limits are not well understood, acknowledged or respected.
I like to think about boundaries as limits, since a limit is something every person has, while a boundary can feel like something reserved for only ‘whole’ people, ‘healthy’ people, people who really ‘have their lives together’. Whether you choose to enforce them or not, you absolutely have limits, lines that should not be crossed. Conditions that are too much or not enough, those that will support your growth or betray it.
The person in the ten of wands pushes a heap of wands forward, with their head down and face buried. A burrowed, hidden face implies a person who has not yet completed the psychological task of distinguishing themselves from others. Unable to separate their own wants and needs from the wants and needs of others, they can’t tell what is their work and what’s not. They take on too much and disregard their limits.
People who consistently overextend themselves tend to oscillate between feeling resentful for saying yes and feeling guilty for saying no. This is partly because of how misguided guilt so often is in the first place, it tends to be rooted in conditioning that you’re responsible for other people’s feelings, which you aren’t.
So this month (and truly any month), what is yours to work through and see through to the end? What is theirs? What do you want to say yes and no to?
May we go inward and speak authentically.

Lunar Lore
It’s Virgo season! We just had a new moon in Virgo, which sets the tone for the things you want to do in your Virgo house for the next 6 months, when there will be a corresponding full moon on March 14, 2025. I hope you are taking advantage and hone in on the minutia of your goals.
We also have Mars in Cancer until November 3rd (and then back but retrograde from 12/6-2/23 of 2025). Mars is uncomfortable in cancer. Mars is direct, a straight shooter, no time to waste. Cancer is the momma bear, the family, if you piss it off it retrieves. So we can find ourselves in exchanges that feel passive aggressive, or moody for no reason. Be tactful!
On to something more fun :)
In honor of all of the Fashion Week’s that happen in September (NYFW, London, Paris etc), I want to talk to you about using your Venus sign for style inspiration!
Venus is known as the planet of love, beauty, and aesthetics in astrology. It governs our sense of harmony, attraction, and the way we relate to others in romantic and social contexts. Venus rules over lives pleasures! Including art, fashion and music.
I myself am a Gemini Venus and love being a chameleon with my style. I think it blends well with my Leo rising (bold) and Taurus sun (lux and comfy). This is merely a suggestion (and for fun), if this doesn’t resonate with you, no stress. Choose one, choose all!

Spellbound: Money Bowl
This corner of Practical Magic is dedicated to spells that you can tap into on your own (without it feeling scary). We cast spells all the time without knowing, just think of the wish you make over your birthday candle and the affirmation sticky notes you leave on the mirror.
I’ve been on a personal journey to change my relationship with money from saving for a rainy day (aka survival) to knowing that money wants to work for me so that I can continue to thrive. About two months ago I came across a money bowl spell and decided to try it out for myself. I have not received a $50M inheritance (YET), but! I have received new tarot/astrology clients and an abundance of resources from my network. It’s also been a wonderful ritual to light an accompanying candle and envision the type of freedom money brings into my life.
Items you will need
A container of your choice: wood, copper, glass, crystal, ceramic.
Bay Leaves and Cinnamon.
Crystals: Citrine, Pyrite, Green Aventurine, or Tiger's Eye.
Money & coins (I added both, including foreign $$)
Salt, rice or sand to line the bottom of your dish (I used uncooked rice).
Next Steps
Cleanse the bowl (incense or sage). Fill the bottom with your choice of base as shared above. Write your wishes for abundance on the bay leaves, you can also include dollar amounts. Put the bay leaves and the cinnamon in the bowl. Then add the money/coins/jewels, as well as the crystals. Lastly, place the bowl in the living room or by the entrance of your home as those are the most prosperous places (per feng shui). The bowl should be visible at all times. You can add to it as you’d like.
